Leave Your Luggage in Seoul While You Travel Jeju, Japan or Southeast Asia: Pickup, Storage and Airport Delivery for Long-Term Travellers
Hongdae · Seoul · Long-term travel
“The puffer jacket I bought in Seoul won’t fit in my backpack. I’m going to Jeju next week and then on to Japan. Do I really have to carry all of this?”
That’s roughly what the most common message in our Instagram DMs looks like these days. Most of them come from long-term travellers from Europe, North America and Australia. They’re doing Asia for two or three months, sometimes six, and Seoul is either the first stop or somewhere in the middle. A week in Seoul, a few days on Jeju, then over to Japan, Taiwan or Southeast Asia, and eventually back to Incheon for the flight home.
Our answer is almost always the same: leave the big bags in Seoul.
Short answer KPLANZ collects your luggage from your accommodation anywhere in Seoul or the greater metropolitan area, or takes it at our counter at Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3, and stores it for a few days to several weeks while you travel to Jeju or another country. When you come back, collect it at the counter or have it delivered to your new place in Seoul; if you fly home from Incheon without coming back into the city, we deliver to Incheon Airport. There’s no limit on number or size, and for several bags or longer stays we send a custom quote with a better price. If your return date or delivery address changes, just tell us in advance and we’ll do our best to make it work.
🧳 Leave the big bags in Seoul 🎒 Travel Jeju or abroad with one backpack 🚚 Meet them again at your new stay or Incheon Airport
01You’re coming back through Seoul anyway
Draw a long Asia trip on a map and it’s usually a loop, not a line. Long-haul tickets from Europe or the Americas are cheapest as a round trip in and out of the same airport, and very often that airport is Incheon. In between, you’re hopping around on short flights: Gimpo to Jeju, Incheon to Tokyo, Taipei or Bangkok.
So the question gets very simple. If you’re passing back through Seoul in two or three weeks anyway, why keep carrying stuff you don’t need right now?
Jeju is the classic case. It’s just over an hour from Gimpo, and for a three- or four-day trip there’s not much reason to drag a 28-inch suitcase along. You’ll be climbing oreum and following the coastal roads, and lighter is better for all of it. On the way back, the Airport Railroad from Gimpo gets you to Hongik Univ. Station in around 20 minutes. Come up Exit 3 and we’re right there.
📍 Gimpo to Hongik Univ. Station by AREX in about 20 minutes · 🚇 Hongik Univ. is on Line 2, AREX and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line · 🏪 Our counter is right at Exit 3
02Why your bag keeps getting heavier on a long trip
The seasons change. Travel for more than three months and you’ll go through at least one change of season. Seoul in January averages a low of −6.4°C and a high of 2.4°C (measured 2020–2025), so you need the puffer, the knitwear and the boots. Fly a few hours south and it’s 30°C at midday. That jacket will spend the next three weeks taking up half your pack. Leave your winter clothes in Seoul, and pull them back out when you return to the cold.
You go shopping in Seoul. Almost nobody escapes this one. You walk into Olive Young for “a couple of skincare things” and fill the basket twice. Then there are clothes from Seongsu or Dongdaemun, and souvenirs. The backpack that closed fine when you arrived won’t zip shut when you leave. Store your shopping separately, combine it right before you fly home, and stay light for the rest of the trip.
Baggage fees add up. On domestic flights and on budget airlines around Asia, the base fare often covers cabin baggage only, with checked bags charged separately on every leg. Over four or five flights that gets expensive. Leave the big bag in Seoul and travel with carry-on only, and those savings cover a good chunk of your storage cost.
03How travellers actually use it
Storing luggage in Seoul while you visit Jeju
Have us collect your bags on the day you check out of your Seoul accommodation, or hop off at Hongik Univ. Station on your way to Gimpo and drop them yourself. Take one backpack to Jeju. When you land back at Gimpo, ride AREX to Hongik Univ. Station and pick up your bags, or have them delivered to your next place in Seoul.
Going to Japan, Taiwan or Southeast Asia, then back to Seoul
Drop your bags before you fly out, travel for a few weeks, and when you land at Incheon, take AREX straight to Hongik Univ. Station and collect. If you already know where you’re staying when you come back, book delivery there instead.
Flying home from Incheon without coming back into Seoul
Leave your bags before you leave Seoul, then pick them up at Incheon Airport on the day you fly home. No need to come back into the city. Just tell us your flight time and where you’d like to receive them.
An early flight with no time to stop in Hongdae
We’ll come to you. We collect from accommodation anywhere in Seoul and the metro area, whether it’s a hotel, hostel, guesthouse or Airbnb. If you’d rather leave your bags with the front desk or your host, tell us in advance and we’ll work around it.
Mix and match. Drop your bags off yourself and have them delivered to your accommodation or Incheon later, or the other way round. Pickup and delivery cover Seoul, the greater metropolitan area and Incheon Airport.
04Prices: one bag goes by the table, several bags get a quote
If you’re leaving one bag for a few days, it’s the standard rate below. Prices are per item, based on size and duration, and the daily rate drops the longer you store.
| Storage period | 20 inches or less | 21 inches or more |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day (24h) | KRW 15,000 | KRW 20,000 |
| 2 days | KRW 30,000 | KRW 40,000 |
| 3–14 days | KRW 7,000 / day | KRW 10,000 / day |
| 15–30 days | KRW 6,000 / day | KRW 8,000 / day |
| 31 days or more | Quote | Quote |
Got several bags, or storing for a while? Don’t just multiply the table. In those cases we look at your number of items and dates and send you a custom quote. We do it as a quote on purpose, so we can give you a better price than the standard rates. Someone leaving two suitcases and a shopping bag for three weeks shouldn’t pay the same way as someone leaving one backpack for four days.
To get a quote, send us four things:
- How many bags, and roughly how big (a photo is even better)
- Your drop-off date and return date
- Your pickup address, or whether you’ll drop off at our counter
- Where you want them back: our counter, your Seoul address, or Incheon Airport plus your flight time
Backpacking packs of 65–75 litres usually count as 21 inches or more by volume. If you’re not sure, send a photo.
Pickup and delivery prices depend on the address. They change with distance, number of bags and time of day, so there’s no fixed table. We quote them together with storage in one go. Quotes are free, and we usually reply within a few hours.
05Return date changed? New place to stay? That’s fine
If you’ve travelled long-term, you know this already: hardly any trip ends the way it was planned. You love Jeju and stay two extra days, you meet someone in Bangkok and your route changes, or you decide to stay in a different neighbourhood when you’re back in Seoul.
So it doesn’t matter if your return date changes, or if the delivery address changes when you come back. Just let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to make it work. If the storage period changes, we recalculate the price, and delivery gets rebooked for the new date and address.
There’s only one thing we ask. Delivery needs a vehicle and a driver booked together, so if you can, tell us at least one day ahead. It’s also fine if you don’t know your return date yet when you drop off. Leave your bags with a rough date, and send us a DM once it’s settled.
🗓️ Return date changes are fine · 🏨 Delivery address changes are fine · 📩 Just tell us a day ahead
06Before you drop off
You’ll be apart from these bags for days, maybe weeks.
- Take out your passport, laptop, cards and medication. Plus any documents or chargers you’ll need at the next stop.
- Pack one outfit for coming back on top. You’d be surprised how many people land at Incheon on a January night in a T-shirt.
- Lock or wrap your backpack. A small padlock, a rain cover or a duffel bag is plenty. Tuck in any loose straps if you can.
- Take a photo of what’s inside. Three weeks later, you won’t remember.
Good to know
- We don’t ship overseas. Pickup and delivery cover Seoul, the greater metropolitan area and Incheon Airport. If your bags need to go home with you, have them delivered to Incheon on your departure day and check them in.
- Pickup and delivery must be booked in advance. At least one day ahead, and two or three days ahead in busy periods like the year-end holidays and cherry blossom season.
- Our regular hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00–17:00. Early-morning collections, weekends, public holidays and after-hours pickup or delivery are available by advance booking, and rates may differ.
- We don’t accept perishable food or leaking liquids. They can affect other customers’ bags.
