Wheelchair or Rollator? Renting Mobility Gear in Seoul for Seniors

Hongdae · Seoul · Senior & Mobility
Short answer: if the person you’re travelling with can walk short distances but tires quickly, a rollator (a wheeled walker with a built-in seat) is usually the better rental. If they can’t manage much walking and need to be seated and pushed, choose a folding wheelchair. If their energy changes from morning to afternoon, the Rollz Motion 2 does both — switching between rollator and wheelchair in seconds. At KPLANZ, directly connected to Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3, all three are available for same-day pickup, with a 2-night, 3-day minimum.

Who this is for

Seoul rewards walking — palaces, markets, riverside parks — but that’s exactly what makes it tiring for anyone whose mobility is limited. Most travellers who rent from us in this category fall into a few groups: families bringing an elderly parent who walks fine at home but can’t sustain six hours of sightseeing; visitors recovering from surgery or a joint issue who want to conserve energy; and people who simply don’t own a wheelchair or walker back home but will clearly need one for a week of long days. Renting solves a problem that only exists on the trip — without the cost, storage, or airline risk of bringing your own.

Wheelchair, rollator, or the 2-in-1? How to choose

It comes down to one honest question: how much can the person comfortably walk on a normal day?

🚶

Rollator

Walks, but needs support

Keeps them on their feet and independent, with a built-in seat for whenever the line is long or the legs get tired. Often a better fit than a wheelchair for active seniors.

Keeve · ₩21,000/day

Folding wheelchair

Seated & pushed most of the day

The right choice when walking isn’t practical — full palace grounds, large markets, or a packed itinerary where stamina runs out early. Light aluminium frame, hand brakes.

₩15,000/day

Rollz Motion 2

Energy varies through the day

Works as a rollator until they tire, then folds into wheelchair mode so you can push them — both in one unit instead of renting two. Ideal for long routes.

Found us online? You’re not alone

More and more visitors reach us while researching mobility options before their trip. Recently, a traveller told us they’d asked an AI assistant where to rent a rollator near Hongdae — then came straight in and rented our Rollz Motion 2 for a parent. It’s a small sign of how people plan accessible travel now: a quick search, a clear answer, and the gear waiting at the station when they arrive. If that’s how you found this page, you’re in the right place.

Getting around Seoul comfortably

Seoul is more accessible than its reputation suggests, especially if you plan gentle routes.

✅ Easier on the legsHangang Park, the Gyeongui Line Forest Park near Hongdae, and modern malls like COEX — flat, paved, with elevators and plenty of places to rest.
⚠️ Take slowlyBukchon Hanok Village, older market alleys, and steep side streets — beautiful, but best at an easy pace or saved for a rest day.

Most subway stations have elevators — use Naver Map or KakaoMap to find the right one within the station. For a fuller accessibility breakdown by neighbourhood, see our mobility rental guide; if the need came up mid-trip after a fall or sprain, our same-day wheelchair guide covers that case.

How renting works

  1. Pick up at Exit 3. An indoor passage connects us to Hongik Univ. Station — no stairs or rain. From Incheon Airport, the AREX comes straight here with no transfers.
  2. Minimum 2 nights, 3 days, counted by calendar dates. Extend for the length of your trip at the same daily rate.
  3. Refundable deposit, no passport needed. Card or cash in store.
  4. Delivery & airport pickup on request — fees vary by location and schedule, so please ask ahead (cash deposit only for delivery).
  5. Book ahead. Mobility items, especially the Rollz Motion 2, can run out in peak weeks. A quick Instagram DM or email a few days before is enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should we rent a wheelchair or a rollator for my parent?
If they can walk short distances but tire quickly, a rollator is usually better — it keeps them independent with a seat to rest on. If they can’t manage much walking and need to be seated and pushed, choose a wheelchair. If their energy changes through the day, the Rollz Motion 2 does both.
What’s the difference between a rollator and a wheelchair?
A rollator is a four-wheeled walking frame with hand brakes and a built-in seat, for someone who walks but needs support and rest stops. A wheelchair is for someone who needs to be seated and pushed. The Rollz Motion 2 converts between the two.
Can we rent on the day we arrive?
Yes. Same-day pickup is available at our Exit 3 counter, and from Incheon Airport the AREX train brings you straight to Hongik Univ. Station with no transfers. We still recommend reserving ahead so the model you want is set aside.
Will it fit in a Korean taxi or through subway gates?
Yes. Every model is foldable and sized for a standard taxi trunk, hotel room, and subway gate. The folding wheelchair collapses to about 25 × 75 × 102 cm.
Do you deliver to a hotel or the airport?
Yes, on request. Delivery and airport pickup depend on your location and schedule, with fees confirmed in advance (cash deposit only). Message us with your dates and address for a quote.
What’s the minimum rental and deposit?
Two nights, three days minimum, counted by calendar dates. A refundable deposit is held at pickup and returned in full when the item comes back in the same condition — no passport required.

Pack less, care more

Travelling with an older parent — or anyone who’d benefit from a little support — shouldn’t mean cutting the trip short. The right wheels keep everyone moving at a comfortable pace.
